The cellar: Anna Martens
Anna Martens is a young oenologist of Australian origin, who after her degree in oenology decides to travel the world until she reaches Italy and finds her first job at the Tenute dell'Ornellaia and then at Passopisciaro, a company located on Mount Etna. And it is during this period that falls hopelessly in love with this area and decides to come to settle permanently in Sicily with her husband Eric Narioo, founder of Les Caves de Pyrene. Anna begins her experiments, made of spontaneous fermentations, long macerations and refinements in amphora, until she manages to get her natural wine that she was looking for and desired. Its vineyards are all grown as a small tree, are micro plots that are located near Solicchiata, on the steep slopes of Mount Etna. Anna cultivates only native Sicilian vines; Nerelo Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Alicante. Numerous labels produced but to be noted the red wine "Vino di Anna" based on nerello Mascalese that comes from an old vineyard of ninety years. Today Anna's work is recognized everywhere so much that many young people come to her cellar to learn the processing methods.
