Face à Pierre Blanche 2023 - Hugo Vercasson
The Face à Pierre Blanche by Hugo Vercasson is a fascinating wine that expresses the typical characteristics of the Viognier grape. The choice to refine in steel for 6 months allows us to preserve the freshness and purity of the grapes, highlighting the fruity aromatic notes without the influence of wood. On the palate, softness combines with a lively freshness, making this wine very pleasant to drink. The dried fruit finish adds further complexity, making it an excellent choice to accompany fish, poultry or fresh cheese dishes. It is a wine that also lends itself to being enjoyed on its own, to fully appreciate its nuances.

Service
We taste it at a temperature of 10/12° in a tulip glass. Wine to be drunk immediately but will express its best in a few years. It is recommended to keep it in a horizontal position in a cool, humid and dark cellar.
Pairing
Excellent wine to combine with first courses, second courses of fish, to try with a stewed duck.
Winery: Hugo Vercasson
Hugo Vercasson is a young vigneron and winemaker whose passion for wine has developed through a series of significant experiences in the heart of the Vallée du Doux and the renowned Rhone Valley region. Born in 1999, he has already accumulated a wealth of knowledge and skills working in various wineries, including Domaine Iserand under the guidance of Jeff Malsert. In 2021, Hugo embarked on a personal project, purchasing a plot of land in Arras-sur-Rhône and Eclassan, areas which unfortunately due to an appellation reform no longer fell within the Saint-Joseph AOC, as they were located at an altitude considered too high. Here he planted Massal selections of Syrah from Cornas and created a distinctive wine, “Saint-You”, to which he added 15% Viognier. In addition to this plot, Hugo has recovered several rented plots in the heart of the Saint-Joseph AOC, bringing his vineyard area to around 2 hectares. All work in the vineyard is carried out strictly by hand, and some of its vineyards are already certified organic, while others are in the process of being converted. Its first harvest, that of 2022, led to the production of three red wines and one white, for a total of approximately 4,500 bottles. The labels of its wines, characterized by an attractive design, were created by the illustrator Jules Maillard, helping to make its products not only good, but also visually fascinating. With his careful and artisanal approach, Hugo Vercasson represents a new generation of winemakers committed to enhancing the territory and producing high quality wines.
