Barrosu - Giovanni Montisci
"Barrosu" is a powerful and grand esperrisone red wine made from 100% Cannonau grapes. The grapes come from old vineyards with an average age of 80 years. The harvest takes place in early October. The grapes, after destemming, spontaneously ferment with only indigenous yeasts in 1000-liter plastic tubs, with maceration for about 25 days. Maturation in tonneaux for at least 18 months. Bottling without filtration. Barrosu has a dark ruby red color. Fruity nose with a balsamic trace and aromas of capers, thyme and Mediterranean scrub. On the palate it is full-bodied, enveloping and savory. It closes very persistently. A deep and elegant Cannonau.
Service
Let's taste the Barrosu at a temperature around 16/18 ° C. Wine to drink immediately but if left a few years in the cellar can give great satisfaction.
Pairings
The Barrosu is shown with the second flavored meat, to be tried with seasoned cheeses and with the classic baked potato.
Cellar: Giovanni Montisci
The company was born about 20 years ago after Giovanni Montisci, a mechanic professor, inherited from his grandmother an old vineyard. He thus finds the passion for land and wine. Thanks to the precious advice of two elderly winegrowers learns all the secrets of the vineyard and after participating in numerous farmer wine festivals, where he gains significant successes, in 2005 his Barrosu, Cannonau purely, earns Doc. The surface area extends to About two hectares and the vineyard, with some plants that reach the age of 80, is cultivated in a natural way and it is not uncommon to see Giovanni Montisci plowing with the oxen. In the cellar, its wines are produced by spontaneous fermentation and no chemical is added and there are no traces of stabilization and filtration.
