Cellar: Michele Perillo
The cellar of Michele Perillo is located in Castelfranci, in the province of Avellino. The beginning of vine cultivation is due to his grandfather, Michele, who planted Aglianico's barbatelle in the Baiano area and around his home for personal use. Michele at first did not want to know how to make the farmer's life, and like many young people in the 1970s, he chose to go to work at Ferrero. Only after a few years he realized that sedentary life was not for him. He resigned and returned to spend his days, together with his wife Annamaria, in her vineyards. In the beginning produces wine for bulk sales, only in 1999 we have the first bottled vintage. The old vineyards of Aglianico, some of which reach the age of one hundred, are found in several municipalities and, consequently, we find different lands; In Montemarano are clayey, in Contrada Valle it is tufaceo. The management of the vineyards is organic, trying to use are the essential treatments without any fertilizer. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations, indigenous yeasts and barrel aging. Michele Perillo breeds some rows of Foxtail, a white grape variety typical of the area. The wines of Perillo are wines of great classical nature, and great work in vineyards combined with productive rigor make it a point of reference for all enthusiasts.
