Cellar: Ferretti Vini
The Ferretti winery has a fascinating history that is intertwined with the economic and social events of the 20th century. Founded in 1928 by Sante Ferretti, the company faced several challenges, including the economic crisis of 1929 which forced the family to sell their land. Only in the 1970s did the family manage to regain the property, in a period of transition for viticulture, with the replacement of the ancient vines married to the elm trees with modern systems. In 2013, the sisters Denise and Elisa gave new life to the cellar, taking up their great-grandfather's project and bringing the company back to its ancient splendors. Located in Case Cocconi, between Parma and Reggio Emilia, the winery benefits from fertile, water-rich soil, ideal for the cultivation of Lambrusco, a vine that has historical roots in the region. The company extends over 7 hectares, of which 3 are dedicated to vineyards, managed following the principles of organic farming. This choice not only protects the environment, but also aims to produce high quality grapes. Each phase of processing in the vineyard is carried out manually, guaranteeing attention and care, with practices such as pruning according to the Simonit & Sirch method, which promotes the health and longevity of the plants. The harvest takes place manually, selecting the best bunches to ensure the use of healthy and ripe grapes in winemaking. The Ferretti winery adopts the Ancestral Method, a winemaking tradition that involves a second fermentation in the bottle, giving the wines a characteristic natural effervescence. To encourage this refermentation, must is added to the wine, thus guaranteeing genuineness and authenticity to the final products. Today, the Ferretti winery represents a beautiful wine-growing reality, committed to the production of quality wines that celebrate tradition and the territory, while offering a profound respect for the environment and the health of the vines.
