Cellar: Jérôme Balmet
Jérome Balmet grows in Beaujolais and has been exposed to vineyards and wine since he was a child, above all thanks to his dad who owns a small plot of Gamay from which he produces few bottles, for hobby and private consumption. Jerome learns a lot from his father but is passionate and specialized first by Mathieu Lapierre and then by Jean-Claude Lapalu, both enthusiastic about natural wine willing to share their practical and philosophical experience. Since 2012, Jérome has been renting a Gamay vineyard covering just over one hectare in Vaux-en-Beaujolais, which makes wine in the cellar of Cyrille Vuillod (La Dernière Goutte) using a cement egg for both fermentation and aging. Before making the producer Jerome studied martial arts in China as well as devoting himself to yoga and meditation in Thailand. Perhaps this is why his wines, like him, express themselves in total freedom with a gentle and a little spiritual attitude.
