Cellar: Voltumna
Voltumna is an agricultural cooperative based in the Florentine province of Mugello Valdisieve. on the Tuscan Apennines, where the soil is purely clayey The cooperative manages a few hectares of Sangiovese and two small plots of pinot noir in the middle of the wood, producing wines that are still, good and cheap. In 2012 they took over the reins of the cooperative Marzio Politi and his wife who were already working inside it. First of all they decide to give it the name "Voltuman" as the Etruscan divinity of the earth and the soil, protector of the wine, from whose name derives the word "fortune". Later, helped by Michele Lorenzetti di Macea, they decided to cultivate the vines in a biodynamic regime, in total respect of nature and its places, following the rhythms of nature. In the cellar spontaneous vinification in steel without temperature control, malolactic in wood, aging in barriques of various stages inherited from neighboring companies but in the process of replacement with larger barrels, no filtration or clarification before bottling. The production is very limited; for now on the 10 thousand total bottles, among which Marcello on yeasts are distinguished, a sparkling wine produced from Sangiovese and Pinot Nero grapes, and the Pinot Grigio produced with a long maceration on the skins.
