Checcarello - Fattoria Mani di Luna
Checcarello is a fresh and fruity red wine that comes from a blend of Sangiovese and Barbera. The grapes come from old 40-year-old vines that rise to a height ranging from 200 to 300 m.s.m.m on sandy soils, with sandstone and marl and rich in minerals. After the manual harvest, in the cellar, the grapes are de-stemmed by hand and pressed with the feet. The fermentation is spontaneous in cement and stainless steel tanks with maceration on the skins for 15 days. Aging in steel on the fine lees for 9 months. The bottling is preceded by decanting alone, dictated by time and constellations, designed to clarify the wine, without performing any type of clarification or filtration. Checcarello is a light ruby red color. On the nose the aromas smell of red fruit and small berries. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with good freshness and drinkability.

Winery: Fattoria Mani di Luna
Fattoria Mani di Luna is located in Torgiano, in the heart of the Umbrian countryside. Founded in 2012 by 3 friends, Simone, Rocco and Alessandro, with the aim of redeveloping an old company, converting it back to the Biodynamic farming methods. Fattoria Mani di Luna through manual and artisanal work tries to obtain natural products of high nutritional and energetic value respecting plants and the environment. The artisan vinification methods respect the lunar cycles during the transformation of the grapes into wine. Today the company has about 35 hectares that are located near the confluence of the river Chiascio with the Tiber and is in the hills at an altitude between 200 and 400 m s.l.m. The harvest is manual, and after careful selection, the grapes are de-stemmed and crushed with the feet, which are the best possible method to preserve and enhance the qualitative characteristics of the starting grapes. The white wines are partly macerated briefly on the skins and partly pressed into whole bunches very softly on vertical wooden presses. When the must has become wine, it is decanted following the lunar calendars and passes all winter on its own fine lees. The bottling is preceded by only decanting, dictated by time and by the constellations, suitable to clarify the wine, without performing any kind of clarification or filtration. The wines of Fattoria Mani di Luna are produced with passion, love and careful care able to express the terroir.
