Riesling Qualitaswein Trocken 1999 - Markus Molitor
Molitor's Riesling Qualitaswein Trocken is a wine of contrast, between the exuberance of the sensations of burnt tire and canned peach. The sensation of iodine is surprising. The return evokes figs and caramel. In the mouth it is taut, alive, very long. It is a riesling with a slight sugary residue that leaves a surprising cleansing sensation in the mouth. Wonder.

The cellar: Molitor Rosenkreuz Weingut - Achim Molitor
The wine cellar of Molitor is located in the middle of Wehlener Klosterberg, in the heart of the Moselle. Molitor representing the eighth generation of wine and, just 20 years old, in 1984, takes over the family business. Its ideal is to produce high quality Riesling, following the extraordinary vocation of what is the Moselle territory where Riesling has achieved worldwide fame for more than 100 years. Its great results are due to work and selection without compromise in the vineyard, and a precision in the cellar combined with the knowledge of nature, grapes and winemaking. The vineyards are predominantly planted with Riesling and Pinot Noir, and it is not difficult to find old centenarian landslides of foot on steep slopes up to 80%. From the initial 3 hectares, we moved on to the 40 hectares of today, all located in Mittel Mosel and almost all "grand crus": Zeltingen Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Schlossberg, Zeltinger Himmelreich, Ürziger Würzgarten, Erdener Treppchen, Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst. In the vinification Markus Molitor is very scrupulous; fermentation takes place with only natural yeasts, one part in steel and another part in wood, while the must is clarified by simple gravity and sedimentation. It produces about 150 different Riesling, including 60 Auslese, 13 Eiswein and 15 TBA. His name is now known not only in Germany but all over the world. The wines of Molitor show the potential of the Moselle terroir, with a structure and depth of taste combined with freshness and elegance.
