Roero Arneis - Valfaccenda
Produced from the Arneis vine, an ancient and fascinating white Roero vine. The wine is born through the assembly of grapes that come from two different vineyards that are located in Valfaccenda, on clay-clay soils rich in fossils. The first vineyard is called "Cescu", is about 60 years old, and is located on sandy and silty soils. Its grapes are fermented in barrique with a 7 days maceration on the skins. The second vineyard is located "Dietro Casa", has 20 years and is located on loamy soils. Its grapes are vinified in steel. After some months of refinement on the fine lees we proceed to the assembly. The Roero Arneis of Valfaccenda has a deep straw-yellow color. The nose expresses aromas of ripe and exotic fruit with mineral hints. On the palate it is warm, tasty, characterized by a lively freshness and a long and savory finish.
Service
It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 8/10 ° in tulip glasses. Daily wine that does not disdain to be aged a few years in the cellar.
Pairing
Excellent with preparations based on fresh fish and seafood. Good also to combine with white meat.
Cellar: Valfaccenda
Valfaccenda is located in Canale, on the hills of the Roero, a UNESCO heritage site since 2014, where the landscapes are enlivened by nervous profiles and the land is of sandy origin. The company was founded in 2010 and is managed by the couple Luca Faccenda and Carolina Oggero who started their project to renovate the grandfather's old farmhouse and restore the old family vineyards of Arneis and Nebbiolo, class 1982, after taking a degree in oenology in Alba, he began to "make his bones" in a prestigious winery in Barolo. Carolina, on the other hand, worked in Turin as a graphic designer, and her contribution to the company is immediately evident from the splendid labels she designed. Today Luca and Carolina manage 4 hectares of vineyards divided between two vineyards: one facing south, located in Santo Stefano Roero, which receives the sun all day and gives rich, warm and ripe grapes. The other facing east, in Val Faccenda, a small valley between Canale and Cisterna. The production settles on the 20000 bottles divided between the "Vin Da Beive", their daily red wine, the "Valfaccenda Rosso" based on Nebbiolo and aged in large casks, and the "Valfaccenda Bianco" produced from Arneis grapes. The wines of Valfaccenda reflect these hills, the only Roero, nothing else.
