Rosé Opok - Maria and Sepp Muster

Muster's Rosè is a fresh, light and personality wine obtained from a blend of Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Blauer Wildbacher, native Austrian vines. The name "Opok" derives from the limestone-clay soil typical of this area. The vineyards of the Opok line are the youngest in the company with an average age of 20 years. The grapes are harvested by hand and then de-stemmed. They ferment spontaneously with only indigenous yeasts in 225 liter barrels. Subsequently the wine ages in the same barrels for about 20 months. It is not filtered and no sulfur is added before bottling.

Service

Let's taste Rosè Opok at a temperature of 10/12 ° in gran ballon goblets. Wine to be drunk immediately but left in the cellar for a few years can give great satisfaction. To open a few minutes before tasting it to fully appreciate it.

Pairings

Excellent wine that goes perfectly with pasta dishes, with fish main courses, to try with a sea bass with salt and potatoes.

Cellar:  Maria and Sepp Muster

Maria and Sepp Muster's cellar is located in the Austrian region of southern Styria, not far from the border with Slovenia. In 2000 they took over the parents' 10-hectare cellar and immediately started working in biodynamic. The vineyards are steeply sloping on rocky and clayey soils, at an altitude of about 450 meters. The composition of silt and clay is known in these parts with the name of "Opok" from which a part of their wines are named. The other lines of wines are:: Graf, which is the name of the farm, and the wines are produced from the Zweigelt, Morillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, which come from the oldest vineyards. Then we find the Sgaminegg line, a traditional Slavic name that indicates the stony ground, and in the wines we can find mineral sensations. Finally, the Rot line, made up of delicate, light, but complex wines. In the cellar the vinification is natural, with fermentations they are spontaneous, no use of chemical products, and the wines mature for long periods in wooden barrels. They are then bottled without clarification or filtration and some wines are produced without the addition of sulfur dioxide, while others have small additions. Character and personality wines, but at the same time fun and highly drinkable.
