Rosso di Montepulciano - Poderi Sanguineto
Dora and Patrizia produce their Rosso di Montepulciano from a blend of Sangiovese, Black Canaiolo and Mammolo. The grapes are harvested manually and in the cellar spontaneously ferment with only native yeasts. Harvest one year in oak barrels. The Rosso di Montepulciano shows an intense ruby red color. The nose gives off fruity, floral and slightly vinous scents, with light spicy notes. On the palate it's good body, fresh with acidity with a long finish and fruity returns.
Service
We recommend tasting it at a temperature of 18/20 ° in large balloon glasses. Wine to drink immediately but will express its potential in the best of a few years.
Pairing
Great in combination with appetizers, first courses, and meat dishes, to be served with a plate of ravioli with meat sauce.
Cellar: Poderi Sanguineto
Poderi Sanguineto is a splendid reality located in Acquavivadi, a small town between Val D'Orcia and Valdichiana, about 10 km from Montepulciano. The name recalls the bloody battles that took place in these places between the Romans and the Etruscans. The company was founded in the early 1960s by Federico Forsoni, father of current owner Dora. Frederick cultivated the vineyard for selling grapes to the vineyards, which he integrated with the cultivation of vegetables, olives and farmyard farms. Just after his death in the 1980s, his daughter, Dora, the last of nine brothers, takes over the reins of the company and changes her face completely. Dora is fortunate enough to know Patrizia Brogi and together, one in agronomic clothes and the other in her wine making profession, they begin to produce and bottled their wine. The two have a winemaking approach that is to vinify by nature, with its rhythms, its rules and with great respect. Today Poderi Sanguineto is divided into two farms and covers an area of 35 hectares, of which 4 are grown in vineyards with native varieties of the area, Prugnolo Gentile, Mammolo, Canaiolo and Colorino. The vineyards are well-exposed to the sun and are found on Pliocene origin, which are excellent for cultivating the Prugnolo Gentile. Dora and Patrick in vineyard do not use herbicides or chemical treatments or insecticides. In the cellar there is no invasive procedure but only vinification according to tradition with indigenous yeasts, no temperature control, no clarification, stabilization or filtration.
