Vin de Pays de la Principauté d’Orange rouge - Domaine Charvin
The Vin de Pays de la Principauté d'Orange is a juicy, gourmand, perky and rhythmic wine that allows you to get to know the Domaine Charvin. Obtained from a blend of Merlot and Grenache, the grapes come from vines planted in the 70s on clayey soils. Pressing of whole bunches. Spontaneous fermentation with 17-25 day maceration with daily pumping over. Aging 100% in cement for 21 months. Neither filtration nor clarification. Rest 5 months in the bottle before release.
Service
We taste it at a temperature of 16/18 ° in a tulip glass. Wine to be drunk immediately but will express its best in a few years. It is recommended to keep it in a horizontal position in a cool, humid and dark cellar.
Pairing
Excellent red wine to combine with first courses, main courses of meat, to try with a stewed duck.
Winery: François Dumas
FChâteauneuf-du-Pape is indisputably among the largest terroirs of the Rhone and France. It is here, and precisely in the lieu-dit Maucoil, in the territory of the municipality of Orange north of the appellation, that the Domaine Charvin was born in the now distant 1851, at the time of the Second Republic, by the hand of Guillaume Charavin (the modification of the family surname was a trivial administrative oversight of the early twentieth century). Today, the 33-hectare company of vineyards is led by Laurent Charvin, who in taking over the estate in the early nineties decided to take the path of organic farming (Écocert certification), eliminating the chemistry in the vineyard. This radical choice finds its ideal compendium in the cellar, with a vinification free from enological additives: no selected yeasts, no enzymes, sulphites managed sparingly. The company remains faithful to the idea of maceration of whole bunches, not de-stemmed, an increasingly crucial solution, in the Châteauneuf of the 21st century, to preserve the expressive freshness of wines. This is how wines of crystalline class, expressive purity and great gustatory impetus are born, an impeccable expression of the terroir.
