Cellar: Château Planquette
Château Planquette is located in Saint-Yzans and Couquèques, in the northernmost part of the Médoc, one of the areas of the Bordeaux wine region. Surely Château Planquette is an atypical winery around here, because it is difficult to find artisanal productions in these latitudes. The Château is managed by Didier Michaud who bought a couple of parcels in 1981, and began to cultivate the vine. Its vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, extend for about 1.70 hectares on clayey-calcareous soils, well drained, considering that this part of the Medoc was once a swamp that was reclaimed. Didier Michaud practices a clean viticulture of biological type, and in the cellar does not use any type of oenological additive, fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, and the wine before bottling is not clarified and is filtered only coarsely. Didier Michaud produces only one wine named after his Château, Planquette. A sublime wine, with a powerful tannic grain, fascinating in its spicy and leathery tones. An authentic Bordeaux.
