Sketta - Cantina Marilina

Sketta by Cantina Marilina is a white wine obtained from grapes of Grecanico in purity with the ancestral method. The name means, in Sicilian dialect, young lady, single, today better known as single. The grapes come from vineyards located on the white calcareous soils of the Val di Noto, which give the wines beautiful structures and allow for longer refinements. Spontaneous vinification in concrete tanks and aging for 6 months in the same tanks and then in the bottle for 3 months.

Service

We recommend tasting it at a temperature of 12/14° in tulip-shaped glasses. Wine to be drunk immediately but will express its best in a few years. In the meantime, it is recommended to keep it horizontally in a cool, damp and dark cellar.

Pairing

It goes perfectly with first courses with vegetables, second courses with fish, to be tried with a au gratin perch.

Cantina Marilina is a dynamic company located in Noto, in the province of Syracuse. It was born in 2001 when Angelo Paternò together with his daughter Marilina, after numerous professional experiences that lead them to travel around Sicily, fall in love with the Noto Valley. This Valley is one of the sunniest and windiest areas of Sicily and the white limestone soils allow long refinements and give longevity and elegance to the wines. Here we find sapling vineyards of 40 years and more, planted with Nero d'Avola, Moscato and Grecanico. in the cellar everything passes in the concrete tanks, with long macerations in order to use the raw material to the maximum. The concrete tanks not only improve maturation, but also leave the product unchanged. Therefore long macerations, few interventions inside the cellar during the processing phase, with minimal filtration and no clarification. History, like nature, is a master these words best describe the philosophy of the Cantina Marilina.
