Winery: Giuseppe Cortese
The Giuseppe Cortese winery is located on the rolling hills of Barbaresco in the heart of the Langhe. Historic winery in the area, has been cultivating the vine for three generations, and until 1971 when Giuseppe Cortese decided to start making wine on his own, he sold the grapes to the local cooperative. Giuseppe cultivates eight hectares of vineyards that are located in the natural amphitheater that opens between the hill of Rabaja, one of the most suitable and prestigious Cru for the production of Barbaresco, and that of the Trifolera where are located the vineyards of Chardonnay, Dolcetto and Barbera . Old vineyards that reach even sixty years of age, maniacally treated in full respect of the environment and nature, abolishing any form of chemical substance. The same care and attention is placed in the new cellar, where the grapes are worked in a strict and punctual manner with traditional procedures, and the new wine is refined in large Slavonian or French oak barrels and in barrique. Giuseppe Cortese has a strong link with the territory and tradition and fully enhances the wines of Barbaresco. This tradition today is guarded and guided by the sons of Giuseppe: Pier Carlo and Tiziana who with their husband Gabriele look to the future with the determination that has always distinguished the Cortese family. The Barbaresco Rabajà, also in the splendid reserve version, has established itself among the fans for its genuine and vibrant character, of great elegance and typicality
