The Gonella winery is a small family-run business that has always been rooted in the Asti area. The story can be traced back to Giulia's father (the current owner), Mario, who at a young age decided to leave because he was not ready for a "change of course" towards a quality way of making wine and no longer linked to amount. He moved with his wife Margherita to Rivoli, near Turin, but often returned to the countryside to help his parents. When retirement arrived and the possibility of a new start, he took over his parents' campaign and began to dedicate himself to it. Today the winery is managed by Giulia, who spent her youth more in the countryside with her grandparents than in the city, and grew up with the desire to bring herself, with sincerity, to the work she does. Supported by her father and her husband Davide, they work 4.5 hectares of vineyards planted with arneis, barbera, bonarda and nebbiolo. The lands where the vines grow lie on the ancient sea beds of what the Asti gulf was a few million years ago, white and blue clays mix with sand and tuff. In the vineyard only copper and sulfur, in the cellar only grapes and a little sulfur before bottling. Giulia loves that the wines are "direct", recognizable in their being, clean and that they speak for themselves.
