Winery: Vino del Poggio - Az. Agr. Andrea Cervini
ll Poggio is a small winery located in Poggio Superiore Statto, near Travo, on the gentle hills of Piacenza. Founded as a farm in recent years has become known above all for its typical and territorial wines. On its labels is represented an elephant, in memory of the battle of the Trebbia that took place in these places, December 18 218 BC, among the Roman legionaries, led by the consul Tiberio Sempronio Longo, and the troops of Hannibal, famous for using elephants in battle. The author of all this is Andrea Cervini, pure winemaker who produces his second tradition and with artisanal methods. Its vineyards are located on clay soils, surrounded by pristine forests, and are bred according to biological practices with care and respect for the natural biological cycles, avoiding any use of chemicals. The same philosophy is also followed in the cellar; preferring ancient vinification methods, with spontaneous fermentation, long macerations and no filtration before bottling. The Del Poggio wines are an expression of the territory, genuine, gastronomic, to drink in company.
