AOP Côtes du Rhône "Poignée de raisins" - Domaine Gramenon
The Côtes du Rhône "Poignée de raisins" by Domaine Gramenon is a fragrant and fruity red wine made from grenache noir and cinsault grapes. The grapes come from the younger vineyards of the Domaine cultivated in Gramenon, in the commune of Montbrison sur Lez, on clay-limestone soils. Manual harvest, and in the cellar spontaneous fermentation of partially de-stemmed grapes, with only indigenous yeasts. Maceration for about 10 days in a cement vat. The wine rests for a few months in a cement tank before being bottled without filtration. The Côtes du Rhône "Poignée de raisins" has a garnet red color. On the nose the bouquet expresses aromas of ripe red fruit and small berries. The sip is fragrant, with juicy and crunchy fruit, good tannins and closing with great freshness.
Service
We taste it at a temperature of 16/18 ° in tulip chalice. Wine to drink immediately but will express the best of itself in a few years. It is recommended to keep it in a horizontal position in a fresh, damp, dark cellar.
Pairing
Great red wine to match with first courses, second courses of meat, to try with a duck in wet.
Cantina: Domaine Gramenon
Domaine Gramenon is located in Montbrison sur Lez, north of Avignon, in the heart of southern France. The Domaine was bought in 1978 by Michèle Aubéry-Laurent together with her husband Philippe Laurent of which, after the tragic death of 1999, she collected her vineyard heritage alone and kept the surname. Michèle Aubéry-Laurent is the memory projected into the future, because this work is not nostalgia, but fervent creation, year after year, of completely natural wines, a reflection of the miracle of nature that is perpetuated. The domaine Gramenon has 26 hectares of vines located on the left bank of the Rhone, mainly on the territory of Montbrison-sur-Lez and partly on the plateau of Valréas. In the vineyards we find mainly Grenache, with very old plants that can reach 120 years, which produce the cuvée "La Mémé". The rest is composed of Syrah, Viognier, Clairette and Cinsault. In the vineyard only copper, sulfur and biodynamic preparations are used and weeding, chipping and hoeing are done manually. The harvest is manual and a rigorous selection of the grapes is carried out. The work in the cellar is of absolute continuity and consistency with the viticultural approach. Fermentations are spontaneous with only indigenous yeasts and without the addition of sulphites. Depending on the year, it is aged in vats or used barriques. Before bottling, a small amount of sulfur is added, but the wines are neither clarified nor filtered. The result is the southern reds more concentrated on brightness than on the search for concentration, in harmony with the great sensitivity of Michèle and her son Maxime-François, who has been accompanying her since 2006.
