Cellar: RACINA
RACINA represents from 2021 the return to the future (viticulture) of the Costa Viola and in particular of the territory of the Municipality of Villa San Giovanni (RC). The modern winemaking techniques applied to the autochthonous varieties of which the Tyrrhenian coast of the province of Reggio Calabria is rich give life to supernatural and fully expressive wines of the terroir. The approach to production is based on the lowest possible impact (in the vineyard and cellar) and aimed at seeking the balance found in nature. No tillage is carried out in the vineyard, hoeing and fertilization are avoided and grassing is favored; sulfur is used only when strictly necessary to prevent powdery mildew and thanks to the scacchiatura and strong winds that blow on the Costa Viola, the humidity in the vineyard and on the plants is always very low and effectively prevents the development of diseases. In the cellar only one ingredient (grapes) is used and exclusively indigenous yeasts. No temperature control is carried out and fermentations in small masses make it possible to avoid excessive overheating of the musts. The wines are not filtered and the respective clarification is natural thanks to the winter temperatures and racking by gravity. Sulphites are never added, it would be tantamount to denying what has been argued up to now (and the very nature of RACINA).
