Cirò Bianco 2024 - L'Arciglione di Cataldo Calabretta

Cirò Bianco - L'Arciglione di Cataldo Calabretta
Cataldo Calabretta’s Cirò Bianco "L'Arciglione" is a Calabrian wine of great character, depth, and purity—an authentic tribute to the Greco grape variety and the richness of the clay-limestone soils that define the Cirò terroir. The producer’s artisanal, respectful philosophy is reflected in every stage of production: following a meticulous manual harvest in mid-September, spontaneous fermentation takes place in the cellar using only indigenous yeasts. This is followed by six months of aging in stainless steel, enhanced by *bâtonnage* (lees stirring), which imparts not only freshness but also volume and remarkable structural complexity. In the glass, it displays a luminous, brilliant straw-yellow hue, while the nose reveals a refined, elegant bouquet characterized by a harmonious interplay of delicate white flowers and juicy yellow-fleshed fruit aromas. On the palate, it unveils its true soul, standing out for its extraordinary mineral tension and distinct savoriness, offering a deep, energetic sip with exceptional persistence. Its substantial structure and vibrant saline finish make it an excellent companion for seafood cuisine, pairing ideally with raw seafood, oysters, crustacean-based pasta dishes, *bottarga*, or oven-baked fish fillets.

The winery: L'Arciglione di Cataldo Calabretta
Cataldo is the fourth generation of a family of winemakers. After a degree in Enology and Viticulture at the Faculty of Agriculture of Milan he has worked in various wineries. Seven years ago, together with her sisters, she decided to renovate the old family cellar and add a new page to our history. For over 10 years the company is run according to the dictates of organic farming, an ethical choice, which from year to year is bearing fruit: has renewed the vineyards, continuing to cultivate the vine Gaglioppo on hilly land located in the heart of "DOC Cyrus'". Do not use selected yeasts or activators of fermentation of any kind; seeking to minimize the use of sulfur dioxide, static cold tartaric stabilization and filtration before bottling. In the winery he has recovered the old concrete tanks, among the most suitable for the refining and the Cirò wine maturation. To complete the range of wines produced by Cataldo: Rosato produced with Gaglioppo, Cirò Bianco based Greek Bianco, Rosato from Alicante grapes, White Wine made from grapes Ansonica to close with a delicious wine Passito of Malvasia grapes .
