The Albana grapes used to produce the "SabbiaGialla" come from a historic 30-year-old vineyard that is the result of a mass selection of all the 5 clones of the grape made by Don Antonio Baldassari, former tenant of the Podere di San Biagio Vecchio. The harvest of the grapes is manual with careful selection of the grapes, and various passages are carried out in the vineyard according to the maturation of the clusters of Albana. Cellar: San Biagio Vecchio
The San Biagio Vecchio winery is located on the hill of San Biagio, near Faenza. Managed by Andrea Balducci and his wife Lucia Ziniti who in 2004 took over the vineyards of Antonio Baldassari, parish priest-vintner of San Biagio, devoted more to the Albanians than to Sangiovese. Andrea and Lucia have a lot of their knowledge of wine and vine to a local farmer and uncle Giorgio who helped them in the early years of their adventure. Today, Andrea cultivates 5 hectares of vineyards that look at the ancient Oriental Fig Tree Tower and the plain to the sea, planted with native grape varieties such as Albana, Malvasia of Candia Aromatica, Flame Trebbiano, Sangiovese and Centesimino. Centesimino is an autochthonous red grape vine that was rediscovered by Pietro Pianori. Peter discovered a few rows in his garden and grabbed some marbles in his Terbato farm. Today, Andrea and Lucia have managed this farm and cultivated not only vineyards but also an ancient variety of grain called Gentil Rosso. In the cellar San Biagio Vecchio you practice a serious farming, respecting tradition and with great attention to the environment. Andrea's love for wine, they are well expressed in these words: "I make wine and in doing this pass my wishes and fantasies of child, the care and support of my family, the sympathy and wisdom of my father Gennaro and of my uncle Giorgio. So I'm not even just when, knocking in the silence of the vineyard, I decide what to kill and what to leave. "
