Winery: Domaine Jean-Philippe Padié
The company of Jean-Philippe Padié is located in Calce, in the Agly valley, a few kilometers from Perpignan, in the Languedoc - Roussillon region. This area is excellent for the cultivation of the vine, where the marine influence and the energy of the winds temper the Mediterranean heat. Jean-Philippe before starting to make his own wine, he worked at Mas Amiel and Gauby's. Jean-Philippe is a true "gardener" who speaks with passion of his land, the age of his vines and his terroir in general. Today it has 15 hectares of vineyards scattered in about thirty plots. In his work he is helped by Kikito and Lorelei who take care of the vineyards of Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Maccabeu, White Grenache and Gray Grenache. In the vineyard it follows the lunar cycle and some energizing preparations in order to create a natural balance in its terroir. In the cellar, it does not force things, it does not add anything, it performs delicate sprays, spontaneous fermentations, no correction of the oenological parameters, homeopathic use of the sulfites. For containers use cement tanks or medium-small barrels used. From this approach born wines at the same time gluttonous and exceptionally precise.
