Massal Denis Montanar
The Massal is a fresh and juicy red wine made from 100% Merlot grapes. Leuve come from a vineyard of two hectares that rests on a soil rich in clay, sand and silt. After the manual and selected harvest of the grapes, maceration and fermentation take place spontaneously in open fiberglass vats for 6 days. Manual pressing and then aging on the fine lees in cement containers for 12 months. No clarification and filtration before bottling. The Merlot Borc Dodon is ruby red in color. The nose expresses fruity aromas of small red fruits, followed by light spicy notes. In the mouth it is dry, medium bodied, lively freshness and flavor.
Service
We taste it at a 16/18 ° temperature in tulip glasses. Wine to drink at once but does not mind being aged.
Pairings
The Massal combines the first pretensions with tomato sauces, seconds of meat, to be tried with the classic Friulian Frieze.
Cellar: Dennis Montanar
The cellar of Denis Montanar is located in Borc Dodon, in the province of Udine. Denis is predestined, in fact, has come from a family of farmers for four generations. It all begins at the beginning of the twentieth century when, his great-grandfather, he began cultivating a few hectares of land under hay. In 1989 Denis began to lead the family business by renting grandfather vineyards. He then began to buy hectares of vineyards and an old rural village with the idea of creating a territorial brand bearing the name of the hamlet: Borc Dodon. Not only wine is produced but also ancient varieties of wheat, corn, buckwheat and then medical herb for fertilizing and sunflowers for the oil. The vineyards grow on sandy, lime and clay grounds, and since 1996 they have been cultivated in organic with minimal treatments, using only low-dose copper and sulfur, hand-picked grapes and fermented wines with natural yeast and in the cellar Are clarified. Brewed vineyards are the classic Friulian native, such as Refosco from Red Peduncolo, Cabernet Franc, Friulano Verduzzo and Tocai Friulano, but internationals such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon are also grown. Denis Montanar is part of two circuits that impose a definite and severe decalogue of production, namely the "Renaissance du Terroir" and "Triple A".
