Producer Denis Montanar
FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA
The cellar of Denis Montanar is located in Borc Dodon, in the province of Udine. Denis is predestined, in fact, has come from a family of farmers for four generations. It all begins at the beginning of the twentieth century when, his great-grandfather, he began cultivating a few hectares of land under hay. In 1989 Denis began to lead the family business by renting grandfather vineyards. He then began to buy hectares of vineyards and an old rural village with the idea of creating a territorial brand bearing the name of the hamlet: Borc Dodon. Not only wine is produced but also ancient varieties of wheat, corn, buckwheat and then medical herb for fertilizing and sunflowers for the oil. The vineyards grow on sandy, lime and clay grounds, and since 1996 they have been cultivated in organic with minimal treatments, using only low-dose copper and sulfur, hand-picked grapes and fermented wines with natural yeast and in the cellar Are clarified. Brewed vineyards are the classic Friulian autochthonous ones, such as Refosco rosso, Cabernet Franc, Verduzzo Friulano and Tocai Friulano, but internationals such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon are also grown. Denis Montanar is part of two circuits that impose a definite and severe decalogue of production, namely the "Renaissance du Terroir" and "Triple A".
