Somatico 2023 - Podere il Castelalccio
Somatico comes from the oldest vineyards of Podere il Castelaccio, where Pugnitello grows on galestro schist soil under the long Tuscan summer sun. Manual harvesting, natural fermentation, and 12 months in barrels and 12 months in bottle create an intense and harmonious wine. It opens with aromas of red fruits, delicate spices, and mineral notes; on the palate, it is elegant, vibrant, and persistent. Each vintage is unique, even in the label created by artist Andrea Carciola, which captures the time and character of the wine. A sip of pure Tuscany, where passion, land, and history meet.

Somatico - Podere il Castelalccio
Somatico comes from the oldest vineyards at Podere il Castelaccio, where Pugnitello grows in harmony with the galestro schist soil and the temperate Tuscan climate. Fifty-year-old vines, trained using the Guyot system with 5,000 vines per hectare, capture the light of the long summers and the balance of the seasons, yielding grapes rich in character and authenticity. The grapes are harvested by hand in early October, and ferment naturally in concrete vats with a two-week maceration. Aged for 12 months in 500-liter tonneaux and another 12 months in bottle, allowing the wine to develop elegance, complexity, and extraordinary aging potential. Only 1,200 bottles per year represent this unique terroir. In the glass, Somatico is intense and enveloping, with aromas of ripe red fruits, delicate spices, and mineral nuances that reveal the personality of Pugnitello. On the palate, it is harmonious and deep, with elegant tannins and a vibrant freshness, perfect for accompanying grand traditional dishes or moments of pure conviviality. Each vintage of Somatico is a unique work of art: the label graphics, designed by Livorno-born artist Andrea Carciola, change every year, like the wine itself, which evolves over time. A sip, a face, an experience: Somatico is Tuscany, expressed through the lens of passion, care, and time.
Service
We recommend serving it at a temperature of 16/18 ° in tulip glasses. Wine to be drunk immediately but holds up well time.
Pairings
Excellent with the whole meal, both with the first of filled pasta and with the main courses of white and red meat. It gives its best with sausages and potatoes.
Winery: Podere il Castelalccio
Tenuta Lenzini is located in the town of Gragnano in the beautiful hills of Lucca, set in a natural amphitheater that frames it. The estate finds its origin in the sixteenth century; in fact it was owned by the Arnolfini spouses, famous for being portrayed by Van Eyck in the work exhibited at the British Museum in London, and from the beginning it produced wine and oil. Today the couple is led by Benedetta Tronci and Michele Guarino. Their adventure began in 2007, when Benedetta inherited the estate from her grandfather Franco. It was he who in the past years managed to see more in the others, betting on the rebirth of a place left to the most total abandon; by restructuring it, until it becomes even more fascinating. Composed of 13 hectares of vineyards and 4 of olive groves, there are mainly international varieties, such as Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernt Sauvignon, followed by Vermentino and Sauvignon blanc. The vines are grown in a biodynamic regime without the aid of chemistry, and artifice, with deep processing in the fall, followed by sowing leguminous, cruciferous and grasses that will be mown in spring, and in autumn, the 500 is prepared to give the ego, the personality on the ground, and to generate humus, life, because for Benedetta and Michele the focus is no longer the plant, but the soil where it lives, grows, feeds. The same respect they also use it in the cellar, where fermentation is spontaneous, minimizing the use of sulphites, so as not to alter the fruit that is and must remain the expression of the territory, aging in steel, cement and non-new woods, so that the wine is easily readable. The production is around 50,000 bottles, when the year is favorable, with a range of five labels consisting of three reds, a rosé, and a white.
