Producer Tenuta Lenzini

TUSCANY

Tenuta Lenzini is located in the town of Gragnano in the beautiful hills of Lucca, set in a natural amphitheater that frames it. The estate finds its origin in the sixteenth century; in fact it was owned by the Arnolfini spouses, famous for being portrayed by Van Eyck in the work exhibited at the British Museum in London, and from the beginning it produced wine and oil. Today the couple is led by Benedetta Tronci and Michele Guarino. Their adventure began in 2007, when Benedetta inherited the estate from her grandfather Franco. It was he who in the past years managed to see more in the others, betting on the rebirth of a place left to the most total abandon; by restructuring it, until it becomes even more fascinating. Composed of 13 hectares of vineyards and 4 of olive groves, there are mainly international varieties, such as Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernt Sauvignon, followed by Vermentino and Sauvignon blanc. The vines are grown in a biodynamic regime without the aid of chemistry, and artifice, with deep processing in the fall, followed by sowing leguminous, cruciferous and grasses that will be mown in spring, and in autumn, the 500 is prepared to give the ego, the personality on the ground, and to generate humus, life, because for Benedetta and Michele the focus is no longer the plant, but the soil where it lives, grows, feeds. The same respect they also use it in the cellar, where fermentation is spontaneous, minimizing the use of sulphites, so as not to alter the fruit that is and must remain the expression of the territory, aging in steel, cement and non-new woods, so that the wine is easily readable. The production is around 50,000 bottles, when the year is favorable, with a range of five labels consisting of three reds, a rosé, and a white.
