Arbois Rouge Trousseau - Domaine de Saint Pierre
An elegant and authentic red from the heart of the French Jura, crafted from the indigenous Trousseau grape. Made from organic vineyards on clay and marl soils, this wine is produced through spontaneous fermentation and aged for over 12 months in used wood, following a natural approach without added sulfites. In the glass, it presents a pale ruby red and a refined aromatic profile, characterized by balsamic, citrus, and forest floor notes, along with medicinal herbs and small red fruits. On the palate, it is complex, deep, and elegant, rich in mineral tension and with a well-defined structure that clearly expresses its terroir. It is a wine that combines lightness and depth, ideal for those who appreciate well-balanced natural wines rich in territorial expression. It pairs perfectly with light game dishes, roast meats, or flavorful cheeses.
Service
We recommend to taste it at a temperature of 16/18° in tulip glasses. Wine to be drunk immediately to drink immediately but will express its best in a few years. It is advisable to keep it in a horizontal position in a cool, damp and dark cellar.
Pairing
The Ploussard is perfect as a wine for all meals, main courses of meat, to try with lasagne with zucchini.
Cellar: Domaine de Saint Pierre
The Domaine de Saint-Pierre is located in the Jura and was founded in the early 1980s, when the late Philippe Moyne left his job as a lawyer to replant a few hectares of vines in the historic villages of Vadans and Saint-Pierre in Arbois. Initially, Fabrice, who studied viticulture in Beaune, was hired as director of the Moyne vineyard. Already in 2008 he had managed to convert the entire estate into certified organic and in 2012, when he acquired the Domaine, he continued to move the estate towards a more natural approach. Vines of about 50 years raised in Chardonnay, Savagnin, Poulsard, Trousseau, Pinot Noir In the cellar, Fabrice follows the same philosophy that he adopts in the vineyard, with targeted interventions and marls, fermentations spontaneous and use of large wood without SO2. Its wines are the expression of the Jura più elegant. Annual production of about 20,000 bottles.
