Winery: Domaine Joseph Chamonard
Joseph Chamonard The Domaine Joseph Chamonard is located in Villié-Morgon, the most noble and prestigious cru of Beaujolais, and is the legacy of the work of a family of winemakers for over three centuries. Joseph Chamonard already sold a large part of his production half a century ago directly and in bottles, an unequivocal sign of a qualitative vocation and a consolidated reputation. In 1986, the management of the company passed into the hands of Jean-Claude Chanudet and his wife, Genèvieve, coherently continuing on the path of a de facto organic viticulture, free from chemicals. In the 4.5 hectares of vineyards only Gamay is cultivated, which is the vine symbol of the region and of the company. In the cellar, the approach is dictated by a simple philosophy and following the beaujolaise traditions, such as that of not destemming the grapes and vinifying them with carbonic or semi-carbonic maceration. The use of sulfites is very limited and the refinements take place in both new and second and third passage oak barrels. Domaine Joseph Chamonard produces two Appellations: Morgon and Fleurie, which have a free and natural fruitiness, a fluid and crystalline juvenile expressiveness, and the usual ability to evolve over time.
