Bessagalena - Azienda Agricola Baccagnano
Bessagalena, from the Baccagnano estate, takes its name from an evocative dialect expression describing the peculiar gait of a tortoise—moving partly like a snake (bessa*and partly like a hen (galena). This playful metaphor perfectly captures the essence of a wine born from the harmonious union of two Romagna grape varieties with distinct personalities: Trebbiano Romagnolo—supple and vibrant—and Albana—proud, radiant, and deeply rooted in its terroir. Produced according to Baccagnano’s straightforward, artisanal philosophy—using indigenous yeasts and showing the utmost respect for the raw material—this white wine displays a brilliant straw-yellow hue in the glass, enhanced by greenish highlights. On the nose, it offers an elegant, fragrant bouquet of white flowers and fresh citrus, enriched by a delicate hint of almond on the finish. On the palate, it is fresh and well-balanced, supported by a pleasant acidity: the Trebbiano provides structure and tension, while the Albana adds breadth and aromatics, extending into a crisp, clean finish with pronounced minerality. A dynamic and highly drinkable wine, it is perfect for pairing with aperitifs, traditional seafood pasta dishes, herb risottos, or vegetable and fresh cheese-based dishes.
Service
It is advisable to serve it at a temperature of 8/10° in tulip goblets. Wine to drink immediately.
Pairing
Excellent with seafood appetizers, vegetable risottos, and white meats. But it is also perfect for an aperitif, paired with a piadina and some squacquerone cheese.
