Vino bianco 000202024 -- Marco Merli
An authentic Umbrian white wine that embodies the region's identity, born from a blend of Trebbiano Toscano, Grechetto, and Malvasia di Candia. The bold character of the Grechetto lends the wine a depth reminiscent of a skin-contact white, yet it is precisely this trait that gives rise to its subtle, ethereal, and distinctive elegance. The name "Brucisco" is a tribute to the winemaker's father, Enzo—a wine with a warm, strong soul, rich in history and meaning. In the glass, it displays a luminous hay-yellow hue typical of the hills of central Italy, while the nose evokes the countryside with mineral and floral notes alongside hints of ripe fruit. On the palate, it is textured, lively, and honest, boasting fine structure and balanced freshness. It offers a vinous, authentic sip that conveys the power of the land from which it originates. The grapes come from a small, naturally farmed vineyard situated at an altitude of 280–380 meters; the fruit is hand-harvested and fermented spontaneously using indigenous yeasts. Aging in a combination of stainless steel and oak tonneaux guides the wine toward harmonious complexity without sacrificing its genuine, rustic soul. Brucisco Bianco is a wine that speaks of the countryside, memory, and terroir: elegant, profound, and true.
Service
It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 10/12° in tulip glasses. Daily wine but left a few years in the cellar can give great emotions.
Pairings
Excellent as an aperitif, ideal to accompany the main courses of fish, to try with a stew of monkfish.
Cellar: Marco Merli
Nestled in the Umbrian hills of Casa del Diavolo is Marco Merli’s project—a small-scale agricultural venture he tends with passion alongside his father. Just a few hectares are cultivated with respect and sensitivity; here, nature dictates the rhythm, and the vines grow in harmony with their environment. The soil is nourished through natural practices—using organic fertilizers, cover crops, and targeted treatments of copper and sulfur—allowing wild vegetation and vines to coexist in an authentic dialogue. The goal is both simple and profound: to produce healthy, expressive grapes that truly reflect their place of origin. In the cellar, Marco guides the wine gently rather than forcing it, relying on spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and extended aging in concrete vats, large wooden casks, and stainless steel tanks. Traditional Umbrian grape varieties give rise to thirteen honest wines, each rich in nuance and personality. These wines offer more than just the simple pleasure of a drink; they tell a story of land, time, and passion. They are authentic, profound, and surprising wines, capable of evoking unique emotions with every glass.
