Belo 2024 - Nikolas Juretic
Nikolas Juretic’s Belo is a blend of indigenous white grapes from Cormòns vineyards rooted in *Ponca*—a soil rich in sandstone, marl, and limestone. Born from a vintage marked by a hailstorm on July 26, 2024, Belo brings together grapes originally destined for Waldo, creating a cuvée of great authenticity. It undergoes brief skin maceration and ages for approximately 11 months in a mix of concrete tanks and large oak barrels. Bottled without fining or filtration, with minimal added sulfites. A fresh, vertical, and savory wine with a mineral finish. An essential, honest white wine produced in limited quantities.

Belo - Nikolas Juretic
Belo is crafted from a blend of indigenous white grapes grown in the vineyards of Cormons, rooted in *Ponca*—the characteristic sandstone and marl flysch rich in limestone that imparts a distinctive mineral character to the region's wines. The 2024 vintage was profoundly shaped by a violent hailstorm on July 26th, which struck parts of the Gorizia area and compromised the yield of certain vineyards originally destined for the *Waldo* label. This situation gave rise to a new cuvée: a wine that authentically tells the story of a challenging vintage, transforming an unexpected event into a sincere expression of the terroir. The winemaking process involves brief skin maceration, followed by approximately eleven months of aging in a combination of concrete tanks and large oak barrels. It is bottled without fining or filtration and with minimal added sulfites, fully preserving its identity and energy. In the glass, it is vibrant and vertical, offering aromas of citrus, green apple, and white flowers, accompanied by delicate herbal nuances. On the palate, it is taut, fresh, and precise, supported by well-balanced acidity that leads to a long, savory, and deeply mineral finish. Produced in an extremely limited run, Belo 2024 is a wine born of necessity, yet one that elegantly and transparently conveys the strength of the land and the people who cultivate it.
Service
We taste it at a temperature of 8/10° in tulip glasses. Wine to be drunk immediately but does not mind being aged.
Pairings
Wine that goes well with important dishes of Italian cuisine, to try with fish soups.

A recent company in an ancient territory. Ancestral viticultural practices to look to the future. The story of Nikolas Juretic juggles between past and future, in a rigorous, innovative, measured, passionate approach. Nikolas, after having enriched his wealth of experience and knowledge of the world of oenology by traveling the world including the one with the famous Simonit & Sirch-Vine Master Pruners, decides to start his own project. The territory is the hilly one of eastern Friuli, specifically in Cormons, right in the lands where he was born and raised. 1.5 hectares of vineyards that extend on the eastern slope of Monte Quarin, and are rooted in the classic land of Friuli, called Ponca. Among the rows of native vines such as Malvasia, Tocai and Ribolla Gialla. In the cellar, Nikolas takes great care of every detail, crushing done with his feet, spontaneous fermentation, maceration on the skins and aging in wooden barrels, all without adding sulphites. The end result is surprisingly fine and elegant wines, which tell true and beautiful stories, in the name of the highest oenology.
