Himmel auf Erden White Grande Cuvée 2023 - Christian Tschida
Himmel auf Erden White Grande Cuvée by Christian Tschida proves to be a white wine that captures the essence of a unique terroir. With 70% Grüner Veltliner, 20% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Furmint, this blend comes from a careful selection of grapes, each with its own distinctive characteristics. Fermentation and maturation take place in large barrels, allowing the wine to develop aromatic complexity without overpowering its fresh and vibrant profile. The reworking of the label in 2022, curated by the young Viennese graphic designer Barbora Keherova, brings a touch of modernity and freshness to a wine that already celebrates tradition and excellence. Himmel auf Erden White Grande Cuvée - Christian Tschida
The Grüner Veltliner comes from a high-density planting, with 9,500 vines on limestone soils located at an altitude between 180 and 220 meters. This vineyard, with plants that can reach 60 years of age, gives the wine a unique complexity and depth. Next to this, the Sauvignon Blanc grows in an adjacent vineyard, while the Furmint, a less common variety with great potential, comes from a small "garden" on shale soils located at a higher altitude, between 220 and 260 meters. The grapes are whole bunch pressed, a method that respects the varietal characteristics and terroir. Service
We taste it at a temperature of 10/12 ° in a tulip glass. Wine should be drunk immediately but can give fantastic emotions if kept for a few years.
Pairing
Excellent as an aperitif, it goes well with large fish dishes. Excellent with risottos and stuffed pasta
Cellar: Christian Tschida
Christian Tschida cultivates ten hectares of vineyards, which extend on the shore of Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland. The vineyards enjoy a particularly favorable climate, and are found on soils characterized by sandy gravel, schist and limestone. The vines have been cultivated for four generations by Christian's family, and his father was an oenologist who founded an association that promoted organic viticulture. Ten years ago, Christian started producing wines with his own label, working to establish a unique style, wines to drink, but which can also age. In the cellar, the approach to winemaking involves the least possible intervention. The wines remain in the barrel for a long time, in contact with oxygen. Christian believes that the key factor in his winemaking process is the vertical press used, which applies a very light pressure, extracting only the best juice from the grapes. Then returns the must and the remaining juice to the vines, in a particular preparation that promotes the health of the vineyard. All wines spontaneously ferment on indigenous yeasts, are bottled without being flammed or clarified, and without the addition of sulfur. Several wines produced; those of the series "Himmel auf Erden", which means "Paradise on Earth", in homage to a painting by Alfred Hrdlicka that appears on the label, in white version based on Muscat, Pinot Blanc and Scheurebe, and in red version obtained from grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Zweigelt.Other series is the "NonTradition", which is a deliberate blow to Austrian culture in general, which Christian feels to be irrepressibly regimented, and to the idea that wines should conform to a certain regional style, white is obtained from the symbolic grape of Austria, the Grüner Veltliner, while the Red is based Cabernet Franc. To be noted the "Brutal", red wine o0ttenuto from 10 different grapes, but above all the brand "Brutal" was born between nine producers in all over Europe that work organically and without sulphites, each chooses a barrel, which could be the most interesting or strange or something else, for the selection "Brutal", the "headquarters" of the network is in Ca talogna In general, the front label of a "brutal" bottle does not say the name of the producer
