Munjebel Rosso Monte Colla - Frank Cornelissen

Munjebel Monte Colla is obtained with Nerello Mascalese grapes from the Monte Colla vineyard located on the high terraces on the northern side of Etna. The harvest is carried out between mid-October and mid-November to have a perfect ripening of the grapes. Alcoholic fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts and is accompanied by a maceration on the skins for about 60 days. The wine ages for a few months in resin tanks before being bottled without clarification. It has an intense ruby ​​red color with hints of dark-fleshed fruit, notes of licorice and oriental spices. On the palate it is deep and elegant resulting in a long persistence.

Service

We taste the Munjebel Rosso Monte Colla at a temperature of 16/18 ° in Ballon glass. The Munjebel Rosso Monte Colla can be eaten immediately but, left a few years in the cellar can give great emotions.

The cellar of Frank Cornelissen is located in Solicchiata, on the north side of Mount Etna. Frank, of Belgian origin and exuberant and dynamic character who has always fallen in love with wine years ago to leave his land to come to Sicily and produce wine. Its vineyards are micro-farmed farmed forests with the sapling system, located in different districts at an altitude ranging between 600 and 900 m.s.l.m. Frank cultivates not only the typical vineyards of Etna such as Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio but also old vines that have almost disappeared like Grecanico, Francis and La Minnella Bianca e Nera. His wines are authentic expressions of the eternal terror and as he says, "Wines before being good must be true."
