"Nebula"  - Poggio Cagnano

The Nebula by Poggio Cagnano is a white wine obtained exclusively from Vermentino grapes, coming from a young vineyard of 2016, located at 400 meters above sea level with a western exposure. The harvest took place on September 18, after a hot and sunny summer, which favored an optimal ripening of the grapes. In the cellar, the grapes were treated with great care: after destemming and pressing, the must macerated in contact with the skins for two days. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in cement containers, followed by an aging that saw a part of the wine continue in cement and another part in steel, to then be bottled in May of the following year without filtration, thus maintaining all its organoleptic characteristics. The result is a wine with a bright color, with a fruity and succulent aromatic profile. On the palate it is incisive and aromatic, making it very pleasant. With only 3800 bottles produced, Poggio Cagnano's Nebula represents a unique opportunity for wine lovers to discover a niche, high-quality product. Good!.

Cellar: Poggio Cagnano

Poggio Cagnano is a charming winery located in the heart of the Maremma Toscana, precisely in Manciano, in the province of Grosseto. This territory, characterized by a mild and breezy climate and proximity to the sea, is particularly suitable for viticulture, favoring an optimal maturation of the grapes. The history of the winery begins in 2002, when Pietro Gobbetti purchased a farm that had been abandoned for over thirty years. After recovering an ancient olive grove, in 2006 he planted the first vineyard on the top of the hill that gives its name to the company. In 2015, Alessandro Gobbetti, Pietro's son, joined the project after working experiences in New Zealand and London, bringing new energy and passion to the management of the winery. Today, Alessandro is supported by his partner Eleonora, a local pastry chef, who actively contributes to the growth of the company. The first harvest took place in 2014 and, since then, Poggio Cagnano has earned recognition for its high-quality natural wines. The winery extends over approximately 5 hectares of certified organic vineyards, located 450 meters above sea level, between Mount Amiata and the Argentario coast. This area of the Maremma Toscana is increasingly appreciated for wines that express great character and identity, rich in freshness and minerality. The vines, aged between 10 and 20 years, grow on sandy soils rich in sandstone and galestro, an ideal combination that gives the wines freshness, flavor and an elegant structure. The winery focuses on native varieties typical of Tuscany and the Mediterranean area, such as Vermentino, Ansonica, Sangiovese, Alicante and Ciliegiolo. The philosophy of Poggio Cagnano is based on natural and sustainable methods, avoiding the use of chemical interventions both in the vineyard and in the cellar to preserve biodiversity and plant health. Fermentations occur spontaneously with minimal human intervention, guaranteeing authentic and genuine wines, with extremely low levels of sulphites. The company's future ambition is to reach a production of around 25,000 bottles per year, continuing to enhance the winemaking heritage of the Maremma Toscana.
