Passito di Pantelleria Sole di Agosto - Marco De Bartoli
Marco De Bartoli often repeated that the indispensable element for obtaining his passport in Pantelleria was the "August sun", just the month when Bukkuram began to dry the grapes. Hence the name of the wine. 50% of the grapes are drowned in sunshine for at least two weeks. The remaining part ripens on the plant until September. At advanced fermentation, previously dried grapes are added to the wine, several times, and left to macerate for about three months. For 6 months in barriques and 6 months in steel tub. The Sole di Agosto has golden yellow color. The nose is an explosion of perfumes ranging from bergamot, to raisins to spices. The mouth is sweet, balanced and clean, with a long floral finish.
Service
We taste the Sun of August at a temperature of 10/12 ° in sauternes glasses for sweet wines. The Passito di Pantelleria Sole d'Agosto is to be sawn but will express its best in a few years. We recommend keeping it in a horizontal position in a fresh, humid and dark cellar.
Pairing
Great for accompanying seasonal fruit, cream desserts, dry pastry and dark chocolate.
Winery: Marco De Bartoli
We cannot speak of Marco De Bartoli without associating his name with his wonderful Vecchio Samperi. In fact, it was he who led the rebirth of this wine for decades put in purgatory and associated with the worst names. Marco was a volcano, a dreamer, he liked to talk, and with anyone he spoke he told about his beautiful Sicily, about his wine and got very angry when he thought about the end that he had made this wine. Since 2011, the company has been run by the sons Renato, Sebio and Giuseppina who carry out the project started by Marco with love and passion. The vineyards are located 12 km from Marsala and on the island of Pantelleria, in the Bukkuram district, which in Arabic means father of the vineyard. The cultivated vines are only native Sicilian; from Grillo, to Zibibbo raised in Pantelleria and used for the passito and the Bukkuram line. De Bartoli's wines tell of his land, his thousand projects, his tenacity and his will to win on all fronts.
