Jurancon is a wine obtained from a blend of Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and a small part of Courbu. The grapes, all indigenous to South-West France, come from 2 hectares of vineyards planted in the 1940s. Aging takes place in barrels where it remains in contact with the yeasts for a year. It then spends 6 months in steel tanks before being bottled. The nose expresses aromas of custard, aromatic herbs and citrus fruits that prepare a mouth with electrifying acidity.

Jurançon Sec Vitatge Vielh - Clos Lapeyre

Jurancon is obtained from a blend of Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and a small part of Courbu. The grapes, all native of the South-West of France, come from 2 hectares of vineyards planted in the forties. The fermentation is spontaneous and is carried out in 600-liter wooden barrels. The subsequent aging takes place in the same barrels where it remains in contact with the yeasts for a year. It then passes 6 months in steel tanks before being bottled. The Jurancon has a straw yellow color tending to golden. The nose reveals aromas of custard, aromatic herbs and citrus fruits that prepare a mouth with electrifying acidity.

Service

We recommend tasting the Jurançon Sec Vitatge Vielh at a temperature of 8/10 ° in tulip glasses. Wine to be drunk immediately, but will express its best in a few years. It is advisable to keep it in a horizontal position in a cool, damp and dark cellar.

Pairing

Wine that can be tasted as an aperitif or combined with fish dishes, to try with a crab salad.

Winery: Clos Lapeyre

For three generations the Larrieu family has dedicated itself to agriculture and livestock breeding. All the harvest was given to the local cooperative. It was only in 1985 that it was decided to make the first vinification. The company is currently in the hands of Jean-Bernard Larrieu and his father Marcel, who cultivated 17 hectares of white grape vineyards such as Petit Manseng, Gros Manseng, Courbu and Camaralet, on steep slopes facing the Pyrenees. In 2005 they moved to a certified organic viticulture and from the 2013 vintage to the biodynamic one.
