Cellar: Il Tufiello
The Tufiello company is the winery of Guido and Igiea Zampaglione in Alta Irpinia. From the vineyards planted in Calitri, between 750 and 800 meters above sea level, the owners of Tenuta Grillo obtain two versions of Fiano, theSancho Panza and Monte Mattina (a reserve). The latter takes its name from the mountain it hoststhe land owned. For Guido this represents a way not to forget the origins and notabandon the South and Irpinia, the territory where it grew and to which it remains deeply linked. Inside oof a historic company dedicated to organic cereal growing, a property of about 90 hectares, the production of wine for bottling started in 2004, with one hectare of vineyard. Today the vineyard area occupies three and a half hectares, divided into three different vineyards. A feature it is important that in an area with medium clay soils one of the vineyards sees one marked presence of tuff. The parcels are vinified together. To characterize and differentiate SanchoPanza and Monte Mattina is not the quality of the grapes, but the fact that the latter - thought of as a wine from Aging - one year more on the fine lees, which makes it more complex.
