La Bella – Oriol Artigas

"La Bella" by Oriol Artigas is a white wine produced from 100% Pansa Blanca grapes. Oriol Artigas is a young winemaker located in Llinars, just 15 km from Barcelona, ​​where he works organically in the vineyard and produces his wines in a natural and non-interventional way. This translates into honest and transparent wines, which, thanks to a fascinating saline touch, express the full character of the Mediterranean climate. The grapes for producing "La Bella" come from 70-year-old vineyards, which are found on white and pink granite sand soils, at altitudes ranging from 100 to 350 meters. The harvest is done manually, and once the grapes arrive in the cellar, they are de-stemmed and then macerated with the skins for 11 days. Subsequently, the grapes are pressed and fermented in stainless steel deposits with autochthonous yeasts. After fermentation, the wine rests on its fine lees for 9 months in the same deposits. It is bottled without clarifying or stabilizing or filtering and without adding sulfur. La Bella is a crunchy and pleasantly sapid wine. On the nose stand the aromas of ripe white fruit, followed by notes of white flowers and Mediterranean herbs. In the mouth it is juicy, of good consistency and structure, with a fairly long finish. "La Bella" is a wine able to refer us with its perfumes to the Mediterranean landscapes.

Service

We will taste it at a temperature of around 8/10 ° C. Wine to drink immediately but if left a few years in the cellar can give great satisfaction.

Pairings

Wine ideal to accompany risottos, fish dishes, seafood, to try with a plate of semi-mature cheeses.

Oriol Artigas is a chemist of primary education and second winemaker, who in 2011 began his adventure in the world of wine. Today it cultivates 8 hectares of vineyards on the ancient area of ​​Alella, which is 15 km north of Barcelona. Alella, which now has 220 hectares of vineyards and is perhaps the smallest wine-producing area in Spain, is divided into two by a mountainous mountain range parallel to the coast, which divides the most exposed vineyards, with the earliest maturity, from the internal area where the harvest is delayed for two weeks. Oriol works an enormous quantity of vines, there are more than 50, in an absolutely natural way, following the biodynamic lunar calendar. In the cellar he is a purist of naturalness and tries to intervene as little as possible in the winemaking process so as not to waste the heritage that the vineyard has given him. Oriol produces wines as he likes to drink them, he tries to make the grapes get everything he can from his territory and then transforms them in a natural way to get a real juice that smells of the sea and Mediterranean scrub. 25,000 bottles produced that usually end quickly. Among his wines; La Rumbera, a white wine made from Pansa Bianca, El Rumbero, a red wine made from a blend of Garnacha Negra, Syrah and Merlot, and La Bella produced with grapes of Pansa Bianca that come from 60-year-old vineyards.
