Bourgogne Pinot Noir - Domaine Pierre Morey
The Bourgogne Pinot Noir of the Domaine Pierre Morey is an entry red wine to enter the world of red Burgundy vineyards, but still retaining a certain austerity, in perfect style with the imprint of the Domaine. The bunches of Pinot Noir, after manual harvesting, are gently de-stemmed and pressed. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in oak vats. It then ends with aging, first carried out for 12 months in small oak barrels called "pièces" and then in stainless steel tanks for a period of 4 months.
Service
We recommend tasting it at a temperature of 16/18 ° in tulip goblets. Wine to drink immediately but if left a few years in the cellar can give great emotions.
Pairing
Ideal with meat dishes, semi-hard cheeses.
Cellar: Domaine Pierre Morey
Pierre Morey is considered the guru of Burgundy. The fame that he has built is also given by the wealth of knowledge that he brings with him thanks to the several generations of winemakers in the family that precede him, who have lived in Meursault since 1793. In 1935, Pierre's father, Auguste Morey, became a sharecropper for the Domaine Des Comte Lafon, a legendary producer in the area. At the time, after the economic crisis of 1929, the situation of the wine industry was at an all-time low and vineyard owners were having a hard time keeping their businesses running. It was at the end of 1971 that Pierre established the current Domaine, but before that period, all the wines produced by his family were sold under the Auguste Morey-Genelot label. Today, together with their daughter Anne, they are owners of nine hectares of vineyards located in the municipalities of Monthelie, Pommard, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault. In biodynamics since 1997, it began in 1991 to return to natural cultivation and vinification after seeing the development of new diseases in the vineyards and the disappearance of snails (the famous "escargots bourguignons") in the same. Since 1992 the Morey family also owns a company like négociant, called Morey-Blanc, through which they buy grapes from third parties, taking care of the winemaking , bottling and marketing. It produces wines of finesse and complexity expressing the uniqueness of the great terroirs that have made Bourgogne famous all over the world: among the best wines produced are the "Volnay Santenots 1er Cru", the "Meursault Blanc Les Tessons" and the great Meursault Blanc Perrieres 1er Cru, all wines bearers of a great historical heritage and traditions.
