JLouis Maurer's etrange orange is a white wine made from 100% Gewurztraminer grapes. Vinification with maceration on the skins for 13 days. With a beautiful structure, juicy and lively, it ages in barrels for 12 months and is bottled without filtration: a must try.

Service

We recommend tasting it at a temperature of 14/16 ° in tulip glasses. Wine to drink immediately but if left a few years in the cellar to rest can give great emotions. It is advisable to keep it in a horizontal position in a cool, damp and dark cellar and to open it 30 minutes before tasting it.

Pairing

Excellent wine as an aperitif, accompanied by first courses based on seafood, to try with a risotto with perch.

The Domaine Louis Maurer is located in Eichhoffen, a small French town in the heart of Alsace. Louis is the youngest of 3 generations of Alsace winemakers, and for several years his parents have entrusted him with some plots of land. Louis is oriented towards organic farming and all the vineyards are cultivated with the most meticulous care, excluding all synthetic chemical substances. After a strictly manual harvest, the pressing of the white grapes is slow, the pressing of the red ones allows the use of unstemmed bunches. Fermentation is triggered spontaneously with the sole aid of indigenous yeasts. In the cellar, any additive or oenological corrective is banned, with the exception of the use of sulphites, used with discernment and not systematically. The vinification takes place in wood, enamelled steel or stainless steel, with long refinements on the thin lees. This is how Louis aims to best express the personality of the vines, the precision of the terroirs, the energy of the minerality. Louis produces a number of very interesting natural wines. Among the best known wines is L'etrange orange, a macerated white wine made from 100% Gewurztraminer grapes.
