ORANGE WINE

The Orange Wine wines are different from all the others: they are not white, nor red, but as the name says orange, although most of the time they are a beautiful bright amber color. The color derives from the particular vinification technique, which was born in Giorgia, cradle of wine, more than 5000 years ago. The technique consists in leaving the white grapes in contact with their skins for a period ranging from a few days to a few months depending on the grape variety used, and both the vinification and the aging take place very often in the typical terracotta amphorae . A vinification as used for red wines, which serves to make the wine much more complex both on the nose and on the palate, where we will have rather strong and impacting aromatic notes, with a tannic sensation on the palate, unusual if one thinks that it goes white grapes. The pioneer of Orange Wine in Italy, was certainly Josko Gravner, who is not satisfied with the production of his wines, decides to go to Giorgia to learn how to make wine according to local traditions, which consist in putting macerating wine in large amphoras of terracotta that remain buried in the earth for months or years. Take home some of those amphorae and start using them to make Ribolla Gialla. A wine that will give birth to the Orange Wine movement in Italy. Today among the best producers of Orange Wine we find: Terpin, Radikon, Podversic, Vodopivec, to stay in Friuli, while in the rest of Italy there are: Dettori, La stoppa, Bajola, and many others. Finally, it is recommended to taste them at a temperature of 14/16 °, and to open the bottle some time before putting it on the table. The pairing possibilities are extensive, combined with raw fish, exotic cuisine, red meat and game. In short, the Orange Wine wines are not for all palates, some love them others hate them.

EHey! by Amos Baneres is a white wine obtained from a blend of Macabeo and Xarel-lo. In the cellar the Macabeo is pressed directly while the Xarel-lo is destemmed and macerated for 10 days on the skins. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in steel with indigenous yeasts and subsequently the wine ages for 12 months with the Xarel-lo in wooden barrels and the Macabeo in steel. A wine that offers fruity hints of peach, citrus aromas and notes of anise, and does not lack lightness and freshness.

Airén Pampaneo Naturalis a white Spanish wine that comes from white grapes of Airèn, a typical Spanish grape variety, with maceration on the skins for a good 4 months. It has an amber color, given by the long maceration on the skins. On the palate it expresses intense aromas of dehydrated fruit, notes of undergrowth and spice. To the enveloping, energetic, very fresh, mineral sip, with a very long persistence.

The WAW Come Prima by Esencia Rural is a rosé wine macerated in terracotta amphorae of the typical varieties of La Mancha harvested and vinified together. The nose is balsamic with marked notes of eucalyptus and mentholated; on the other hand, pleasant spices such as black pepper arrive in the mouth. However, it is fresh with a volatile acidity present to give dynamism and drinkability.

The Tragolargo Blanco is a wine from Alicante and produced with Moscatel and Malvasia grapes that are vinified spontaneously with a period of maceration on the skins. It is presented to the glass of a yellow color tending to orange. Nose that stands out for its delicious orange peel notes, which balance deliciously with the floral tones of the Moscatel grape. "Benimaquia Tinajas" is Spanish orange wine that comes from grapes of Moscatel, and is vinified in amphorae. It has an amber yellow color. On the nose the aromas of yellow pulp fruit, Mediterranean scrub and saline notes are clear. In the mouth it is juicy, pleasant and fresh, full-bodied, and slightly tannic. The Benimaquia Tinajas "by Rafa Bernabe also strikes for the bottle and the transparent label in which it is proposed.
