Piedmont

In Piedmont some of the most prestigious Italian red wines are produced and there are 11 DOCGs and 40 DOCs. The Langhe, Astigiano and Monferrato are the three areas that make up the heart of Piedmontese viticulture. In the Langhe cultivated red grape varieties are Grignolino, Freisa, Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, while white berries are Arneis and Sauvignon, in the Monferrato we find mostly Barbera and Dolcetto, while in Asturian it has a very large spread of White Moscato. The wines produced in the Langhe remain the crown of national viticulture, since the Nebbiolo grapes are born Barolo and Barbaresco, but also the Roero on the left bank of the Tanaro river that cuts in two Langhe. It is still with Nebbiolo that other Piedmontese red wines from aging such as Gattinara, Boca and Ghemme are produced, denominations that are located in the area called Alto Piedmont on the border with Lombardy. Also in the Langhe we find an interesting spumante production that is part of the DOCG Alta Langa. Sparkling wines are produced with Pinot Noir and are characterized by being milliseconds. With Grignolino, Freisa and Dolcetto, you can enjoy deliciously fruity, invigorating red wines. One of the vineyards of Piedmont is surely Barbera, who in the last few years has known, thanks to the producers' commitment, to re-evaluate their image, passing from poor wine and poor quality to what has been able to conquer even the most skeptical critics . The white vines cultivated in Piedmont are the Arneis, Riesling and Sauvignon in the Langhe, the Cortese with which the Gavi is produced, the Erbaluce from which the homonymous wine is obtained in both dry and sparkling wine that passed through the area around Turin, and the favorite. All wines are characterized by a light body and a good olfactory texture. One of the most important Piedmontese DOCGs is definitely Moscato d'Asti, both in the sparkling and sparkling version. These two wines account for about a third of all the national spumante context. Obtained from white Moscato white grapes, not fully fermented, with low alcohol content and high aromaticity. Other aromatic varieties that we can find in Piedmont are the Brachetto and the Red Malvasie, Casorzo and Schierano.
