Winery: Azienda Agricola Marco Colicchio
At the foot of the Castelli Romani—amidst volcanic terrain, ancient vineyards, and olive groves—lies the story of Azienda Agricola Marco Colicchio, an estate that has championed an authentic, mindful approach to agriculture and winemaking since 2012. The project was born from a desire to reclaim small, abandoned agricultural plots and restore value to a historically rich landscape, transforming the stewardship of the land into wines that embody its unique identity. Situated at an altitude of around 200 meters, the vineyards take root in soils rich in volcanic elements and tuff—characteristics that lend the grapes distinct personality and a recognizable profile. Historic vines, alongside plots reclaimed over the years, form the heritage behind a production deeply rooted in the Lazio region. For Marco Colicchio, everything begins in the vineyard: working the land means respecting its natural rhythms, preserving its balance, and intervening only when necessary. The farming philosophy focuses on sustainability and minimizing environmental impact, eschewing synthetic products. This same meticulous care extends to the cellar, where wines undergo spontaneous fermentation and minimal-intervention processing—without fining or filtration—allowing the grapes, the terroir, and the vintage to express themselves as authentically as possible. Key varieties in the estate’s production include Malvasia Puntinata, Grechetto, Falanghina, Trebbiano, Sangiovese, and Syrah. Each bottle is the result of the interplay between grape variety, soil, climate, and human craftsmanship, yielding wines that are distinctive, genuine, and evocative of their origins. Choosing a wine from Azienda Agricola Marco Colicchio means discovering a small-scale producer dedicated to a path defined by authenticity, respect, and passion. It means bringing to your table a product that embodies the character of the land and the labor of those who, season after season, continue to care for it.
