Jura

The Jura is a small region where the vines are scattered through woods and meadows, and white wines dominate the production of these picturesque vineyards. The Jura is a verdant area where the terrains and weather conditions are very similar to those of Burgundy with which it borders on the West, with very hot summers and very stormy winters. The best vineyards are on steep slopes, facing south and south-east, where the terrain is made up of clay-plated Jurassic limestone. The best wines of the Jura are produced with native vineyards, such as the noble white berry cultivar named Savagnin, which is slightly aromatic with notes of nuts, almonds and coffee. Savagnin produces easy-to-drink wines, but also the famous and intense Vin Jeaune of the Jura, which has similar characteristics to Spanish Sherry, with its late-ripening grapes, its intense yellow color is given by oxidation with which is deliberately subjected to wine, which ripens under a flour of yeasts, in oak barrels for 6 years. In the area are also produced red wines based Pinot Noir, the rare and indigenous Trousseau with which also a nice rose. Jura also produces a Classical Spumante Method, which is part of the Appellation Crèmant du Jura, in addition to the famous liqueur vins also called vins de paille, so called because, according to tradition, they are made from grapes left on the strawberries. Among the best names of the Jura we find: Arbois AOC where are produced red wines based on Trosseau, Poulsard and Pinot Noir, and white wines with Savagnin and Chardonnay, and Château-Chalon AOC where they produce the best Vins Jaunes of the Jura. Among the distinguished producers are Andrè & Mireille Tissot, Pignier Père & Fils, Jacques Foret and Château d'Arlay.

Savagnin "En Chalasse" by Labet is a white wine obtained from the indigenous Savagnin jaune and vert vines, which come from vines planted in 1989 and 2003 which are located on the blue marls of the Lias. Spontaneous fermentation of the grapes and maturation in used barriques and always filled for 18 months. Fleur de Savagnin has a deep straw yellow color. The nose is rich in ripe yellow fruit, buttery and toasted notes. On the palate it is warm, elegant with good freshness and a long persistence with notes of dried fruit and salty tones.

Champ Divin's Crémant du Jura Brut Zéro is a blend of Chardonnay and Savagnin. It is fermented and aged on the lees for at least 16 months. Once disgorged, it is topped up with the same wine. It has a crystal color with light pale yellow reflections. The nose offers notes of ripe pear with prominent mineral notes. The palate is fresh and full-bodied, focusing on white fruit. The minerality on the finish accentuates the freshness.

The Pinot Noir of Les Chais du Vieux Bourg is an elegant and fresh wine obtained from the grapes of the same name that come from the vineyard called Les Vernois which rests on soils composed of calcareous marl from Lias. It is an old Pinot Noir vineyard over 50 years old, made with vines from a mass selection of the best plants on the estate, selected on the basis of the quality and aromatic intensity of the grapes. Manual harvest and, in the cellar we proceed to the destemming and spontaneous vinification with a maceration on the skins for a couple of weeks. It is then aged in oak barrels for 2 or 3 years and is bottled with the addition of a very low percentage of sulphites.

Crémant du Jura is a wine made from 100% chardonnay grapes. Second fermentation and aging on the lees for at least 16 months. Blossomed it is filled with the same wine.
