Producer Champagne Ernest Remy
FRANCE, CHAMPAGNE
The Ernest Remy house was born in the mid-19th century, with the marriage between Isabey Remy and his wife Zelia Dubois, both children of vignerons, who created the Remy-Dubois house, with plots in Mailly Champagne and Verzenay. Located on the northern slope of the Montagne de Reims, the maison has always mainly vinified Pinot Noir and the founders sold champagne as well as selling part of the masses to negociants. These were the times of the introduction and classification of the crus, and Mailly and Verzenay returned to the Grand Crus, a reason for further satisfaction, in addition to the recognition that their wine began to receive. It was therefore Ernest Remy, nephew of the two founders, who inherited the Maison in the 1920s and to call it by its name. The arrival of the new heirs, including in particular the niece Alice and her husband Tarek, gave a strong boost to production. Tarek becomes maitre de cave and begins a fine work of developing traditions and introducing some innovations among the company's cuvées. The maison is located in the small square in the center of Mailly, right next to the Marie, the town hall, a small splendid typically Champagne picture. Inside the maison you can visit the splendid "caves" dug into the chalk, the largest in Mailly, and enjoy an environment that is typically and closely linked to the essence of the region and its main product. 55 thousand bottles are obtained from the 13 hectares owned by the family.
