Producer Cantina Pulaio
UMBRIA
We like to bet on projects by young enthusiasts, and Cantina Pulaio is one of them. Daniele Fuso, a young winemaker in Allerona, an Umbrian village in the Paglia river valley, has been taken under the wing of Massimo Antonuzi (Cantina Ortaccio) who is sharing his knowledge, his experience and, at the moment, his cellar with him. Daniele's was a family of sharecroppers until the seventies, and owner of a small vineyard to satisfy the need for food all year round. Today Daniele manages 18 total parcels that make up the total of 5 hectares of vineyards, thanks to his work of recovering the ancient vines of the now elderly farmers who were no longer able to manage. The vinification takes place with the same respect for the raw material: entirely manual harvest, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, without temperature control, no clarification or filtration, The result is direct, sincere, immediately enjoyable wines: the qualities one expects to find in these parts, but which are instead so rare... Curiosity: the name of the cellar derives from "Pula", the waste grain that the sharecroppers used for animal feeders, so as to prevent rainwater from destroying the feed in the barnyard.
