Producer Franck Pascal
FRANCE, CHAMPAGNE
Franck Pascal is a vigneron, an engineer by training, who after the death of his brother took over the reins of the family business, founded in 1906, gradually converting it to biodynamic cultivation, until receiving the certification in 2004. The cultivation of the vines is carried out with experimental methods which, year after year, try to best adapt to the needs and which involve the use of essential oils and chamomile infusions to nourish the plants. There are 4 hectares of vineyards, planted for 70% with pinot meunier, 27% with pinot noir and the remaining 3% with chardonnay. The parcels of vineyards are distributed among seven municipalities in the Vallèe de la Marne, which belong to the Baslieux-sous-Châtillon cellar, where in the cellar Franck minimizes the use of wood, so as to enhance terroir and varietal, prefers fermentation spontaneous with indigenous yeasts, it makes very little use of sulfur dioxide and does not decant or filter. The names of his Champagnes recall the principles of naturalness, authenticity, balance that inspire Franck. The label always contains information on the vines, the dosage and the date of disgorgement. Unique, original, elegant champagnes with a strong personality, respectful of natural values, expression of a strongly suited territory.
