Matija Žerjav (for friends, Matic) is a young producer who inherited the family business: with him, we are in the third generation for this winery located in the Slovenian part of Styria, near Maribor. The Slovenian part of Styria, known as "the area of ​​mountain wines", is characterized by severe winters, and the summer temperature range guarantees a good balance in the final product. The rich marl composition of the soil forces the vine to dig very deeply to find water and nutrients, and it is known that when the vine suffers, it gives its best. The company extends over 9 hectares of vineyards, and is entirely conducted following the principles of biodynamic agriculture. The varieties planted are traditional and native to the area, such as Kerner, Furmint or Pinot Grigio, and some international varieties.
