SICILY

The Longarico farm was born on the initiative of Alessandro Viola and Luigi Stalteri; the name follows the Greek one of today's city of Alcamo and immediately outlines the link between the company and its founders with Sicily and its traditions. Alessandro and Luigi, childhood friends, met again in the early 2000s; at the time Alessandro, after graduating in oenology, collaborated with the greatest Italian oenologists, while Luigi managed a wine bar. Both passionate about good drinking and particularly linked to the world of natural wines, they decide to listen to the call of Sicily, their homeland, and return to Alcamo, where they undertake to enhance some family lands. Indigenous vines, often forgotten, little known even by insiders, but typical of this land and careful processing of soils and grapes aims to preserve, as much as possible, the individual peculiarities of the vineyards and the area. The company is located, in fact, about 350 meters above sea level, in a certainly characteristic place, near the "Bosco d’Alcamo" Oriented Nature Reserve, overlooking the valley of the River Freddo. "Cathartic", "Unusual" and "Nostrale" are the flagship labels of the company; the first is a pure catarratto, a macerated white sharp and agile to the sip, the second is a very deep, fragrant, alluring and engaging red, the last is a savory and very fresh white, sinuous and caressing. In all three cases, these are artisanal wines, produced with careful management of maceration and very low use of sulfur, refined and very pleasant
